Playful markings lead the way in Billund

Our materials add a playful touch to the Danish city of Billund with an imaginative pathway that guides visitors to key attractions, facilities and activities.

This colorful route – simply known as the Playline - makes exploring Billund a bit more fun and supports the city’s vision of being recognised as the “Children’s Capital”.

The project is part of the municipality of Billund’s commitment to being a global centre for children and families - an initiative that originated about 10 years ago with the support of the LEGO Foundation. The three-kilometre-long pathway is a good representation of what this initiative has brought to the city. It blends fun and functionality in a way that reflects Billund’s identity as a place where play is woven into everyday life.

3 kilometres full of play

The Playline is brought to life thanks to a combination of our marking materials and applied with expertise by Dan-Markering. Our PlastiRoute™ RollGrip forms the foundation of the bright blue path and is complemented by DecoMark™ Bend & Shape lines and DecoMark™ dots, symbols, and letters to create an engaging wayfinding route. The markings not only serve as a navigational guide but as an invitation to play, capturing the essence of the city and adding colour and life to the streets of Billund.

This project is a perfect example of how collaborative urban design can add a playful layer to a city’s infrastructure. Developed with input from students at the International School of Billund and the Design School Kolding, it showcases the city’s dedication to children. This pathway brings a smile to each passerby, enhancing Billund's status as a hub for children’s imagination.
